Are you a Young Adult (18-39) who had had cancer
My name is Sairah Bi, and I am a PhD student in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Surrey.
I am conducting a research study to better understand body image concerns among young adults (aged 18-39) who have or have had cancer, and the types of support they would find most helpful. Body image is an important but often overlooked aspect of cancer care for young adults, despite its significant impact on wellbeing and quality of life. This research aims to address this gap by informing the development of evidence-based resources tailored to the unique needs of this age group. Every response would be invaluable in helping ensure these future resources reflect the experiences of young adults affected by cancer.

Cancer and Malnutrition
We’re looking to speak to those who have received a Cancer diagnoses, and who also experience symptoms related to nutrition intake
Research Details
To offer you more information about this research, it will involve the below:
– 90-Minute online discussion group (3 other participants and an interviewer)
– £80 via bank transfer for their time and insight
The discussion will revolve around the participants’ thoughts on nutritional supplements, specifically in relation to their malnutrition symptoms (they do not need to currently be taking any supplements, in order to take part).
We also understand that participants may need to drop out of these groups on the day, if they are not feeling well, but if this is the case and participants would still like to take part, we can offer a follow-up 121 interview with them instead, at a time when they are feeling more up to it.
The Criteria
This is not an exhaustive list of the criteria we are looking for, but the primary criteria that all participants must fit include:
– All must have received a diagnosis of Cancer, as well as malnutrition, by a healthcare professional
– All must be aged between 30 and 70
– All must either currently, or previously, have been receiving treatment for their Cancer diagnosis (the length of time does not matter)
