I qualified as a dental hygienist at Leeds University Dental School in 1988. I worked in General Practice for 28 years as well as the community dental service. I completed my BSc (Hons) degree in Public Health at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011.
I currently work in the oral and maxillofacial surgery department at The Royal Oldham Hospital and regularly care for head and neck cancer patients at the beginning of their treatment and after treatment. I also work for the Oral Health Improvement team in Manchester and work with schools, care home and supported living staff and hospice staff to improve oral hygiene and mouth care for Manchester residents.
I regularly work with Chris at health and wellbeing events and conferences in the northwest and I frequently signpost patients, care givers and support staff to The Swallows charity.
After completing the NHS Couch to 5K running programme, I got the running bug and in 2023 my son, Sam and myself ran the Manchester 10K and raised money for The Swallows
I am truly honoured to become a patron of the charity and I will endeavour to help in any way I can.
