Exeter Support Group Attends Health & Wellbeing Fair
In conjunction with Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the local Primary Care Network, and Exeter City Football Club, Nick, Angie and John the group leads from the Exeter Support Group, represented The Swallows at the Health & Wellbeing Fair held at Exeter City Football Club on Wednesday 13th May 2026.
The event provided a fantastic opportunity for The Swallows Support Group to share our work with the people who matter most to us, cancer patients, caregivers and their families.
The purpose of the Health & Wellbeing Fair was to showcase the wide range of support available through charitable organisations, Primary Care Networks, healthcare services, and the wider community. The overall aim was to promote supported self-management and empower individuals living with and beyond cancer by increasing awareness of the many support services and recovery resources available to them.
The event also highlighted the importance of community engagement in helping people build social connections, reduce isolation, and develop a sense of belonging during and after treatment.
This well-attended drop-in event was widely promoted beforehand through a variety of channels and featured interactive information sessions throughout the day, alongside more than 30 exhibition stands representing organisations from across the region.
Nick, Angie and John did a wonderful job representing The Swallows, speaking with attendees, sharing personal experiences, raising awareness of the support we provide, and helping to connect people with our growing community.
Events such as these are incredibly valuable in helping ensure that people affected by head and neck cancer know they are not alone and can access support, friendship and information when they need it most.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising the event and to our Exeter group leads for their continued dedication and enthusiasm in supporting others within the community.
