About SpeakUnique
SpeakUnique creates personalised synthetic voices for individuals who may lose their
voice as the result of a medical condition or medical treatment.
Our synthetic voices can either be a replica of the user’s own voice or designed based on desired characteristics, such as regional accent, age, or gender. The synthetic voice can
then be used on Apple, Android and Windows devices.
About Voice Banking
Voice Banking is a term given to the process of recording your voice and using this recording to generate a personalised synthetic voice. This synthetic voice can then be used through an app, where it converts text to speech, allowing an individual to communicate with a voice that is identifiably their own.
To bank your voice with SpeakUnique all you need to do is record your voice through SpeakUnique’s website.
This can be accessed by signing up or logging into your account on www.speakunique.co.uk
How might this help me?
Voice banking can be a proactive step you can take just in case your speech is affected during or after your
treatment.
The recording process
To bank your voice, you need to read aloud between 150 – 300 sentences, on the SpeakUnique website.
This must be completed in a quiet room using a microphone that plugs into your computer. It takes less
than an hour to record your voice and you will be able to listen to your synthetic voice within 24 hours.
Using a synthetic voice
The synthetic voice can be used through the SpeakUnique app for iOS and Android devices, and on Windows devices through third pay communication apps. These systems allow the user to enter text and have this read aloud in their synthetic voice.
